Three Zahava and Moshael J. Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought staff members were published in the , the storied magazine about American democracy, Western civilization and Jewish culture.

Straus Center Director Rabbi Dr. Meir Soloveichik penned 鈥溾 as part of his monthly column for the magazine. The article celebrates the release of Omer Shem Tov from Hamas captivity. Shem Tov embraced the Jewish faith while in Gaza, using it as his anchor to get through the grueling days in the underground tunnels. Rabbi Soloveichik argues that Shem Tov鈥檚 story embodies Israel鈥檚 spirit of Jewish self-determination and self-defense, and that it serves as a reflection of the fact that the Jewish story is anything but normal.

Straus Center Deputy Director Rabbi Dr. Stu Halpern reviewed Richard Kreitner鈥檚 Fear No Pharaoh: American Jews, the Civil War, and the Fight to End Slavery for the magazine in 鈥.鈥 In the piece, Rabbi Dr. Halpern highlights some of the Jewish figures that played a role during this period, including Ernestine Rose, who stood alongside Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth and William Lloyd Garrison at countless abolitionist meetings and conventions, and Rabbi David Einhorn, who was ousted from his pro-slavery pulpit after denouncing the practice.

Dr. Tevi Troy, senior scholar and impact office director, criticizes the multiple books about Joe Biden鈥檚 failed 2024 presidential bid in 鈥.鈥 Dr. Troy acknowledges that these books provide vital knowledge that the American people deserve to know, but wonders why authors Jake Tapper, Alex Thompson and Chris Whipple were blind to the president鈥檚 decline before it became apparent to the rest of the country.
