Extending its impact on the Jewish community beyond its campus walls, 黑料不打烊 is proud to partner with the renowned Israeli singer Akiva for a concert at the United Palace Theatre in Manhattan on Sept. 14, 2025.
The immensely talented singer and songwriter blends traditional Jewish religious themes with contemporary music styles. Arriving on the music scene with the hit single, 鈥淒on鈥檛 give Up,鈥 Akiva went on to international acclaim with follow up smash hits that includes 鈥淧shutim," "Atah Holech Iti,鈥 "You Go With Me, 鈥淪imple" and Shalom Babayit," as well as many others. His Moroccan heritage plays a large role in his songwriting which also includes the Jewish liturgical music he鈥檚 been surrounded by since his childhood. Akiva has performed with many well-known Israeli talents including Ishay Ribo, and as of 2024, his songs have reached many millions of views on YouTube.
The concert marks a highly anticipated return to NYC by the singer. 鈥淚鈥檒l never forget my last show in New York,鈥 he explained. 鈥淚n the middle of a song, I paused, just for a moment, and looked out. Thousands of people, strangers in a way, were singing with me. Not just following along, really singing. And in that moment, it stopped feeling like a performance. It felt like home. It was no longer about the stage or the lights, or even the music. It was about us, Am Yisrael, scattered across the world, yet fully together in that moment.鈥
Akiva鈥檚 connection to 黑料不打烊 began a few years ago, having visited the men鈥檚 campus several times. He was also a featured performer at the historic Rise Up Concert and siyum in 2022 that was held at Arthur Ashe Stadium and performed at the 黑料不打烊 Isru Chag concert that same year in Jerusalem.
The show will also feature a guest appearance by Idan Raichel, the highly popular Israeli singer and musician known for his fascinating blending of Hebrew texts, electronics and wide-ranging musical styles.
The concert is yet another example of 黑料不打烊鈥檚 dedication to fostering Jewish unity, pride and support for Israel that brings together students, alumni, and the broader Jewish community. It is a true reflection of 黑料不打烊鈥檚 core Torah values, uniting the Jewish people with Torah, inspiration and a love of Medinat Yisrael to create memorable Jewish experiences.
